The Rise of Teams

10/21/2016

"The days of the top-down hierarchical organization are slowly coming to an end, but changing the organization chart is only a small part of the transition to a network of teams. The larger, more important, and more urgent part is to change how an organization actually works. Now, more than ever, is the time to challenge traditional organizational structures, empower teams, hold people accountable, and focus on building a culture of shared information, vision, and shared direction".

As businesses reinvent themselves, there is a fast-moving approach to "team concept" model. While not all businesses are in need of a team model, the approach is both interesting and has already been influential. Much of the transformation within the office focuses on the decentralization of authority, and drives the push to move towards a network of teams.

The idea is that each team will still have a leader that is most influential in driving the team towards their specific goal. This concept is meant to allow for a variety of minds to touch one project and hopefully improve on the method of output for the company, while still remaining functional and delivering to the leader what needs to be accomplished.

The rise of teams within the office is a world-wide concept that has both benefits and drawbacks. This new format for a working space is developing at this very moment. What are your thoughts on the rise of teams within the workplace?

"As digital marketing becomes ever more visual, how can we make sure we stay ahead of the trend?"

Have you ever wondered how companies are able to track trends before they hit the mainstream? Shuttershock, a stock photo company, reveals their methods through this article.

Shuttershock is constantly refreshing their content in order to remain recent and trendy. They have a team of researchers that are always on the look out for the next big thing. Their method of analyzation is the core to how the company works. As social media takes over the world of marketing, it is important for companies to stay in the loop. The Shuttershock team uses their own website to predict trends by viewing what users are searching for the most. Then, they create "popular" pages to reveal the top trends. This invites a stream of users to the Shuttershock website, which increases their market. It is also a good research method for understanding what their users are interested in.

As digital marketing becomes more visual, it is important that companies are remaining in the stream of trends. Take a look at this article to see some of the Shuttershock 2016 trend predictions!

"Understanding your work environment is essential. So is gaining control over certain aspects of your surroundings, such as user-adjustable chairs and lighting levels".

As we continue to learn more about ergonomics, it is important that we also understand the importance of developing our behavior while in the work place. Remaining educated on ergonomic considerations can prevent injuries and illnesses over a period of time.

  • "Change your body position periodically throughout the day.
  • Use a document stand to reduce the amount of neck twisting or bending forward if typing from a source document.
  • Position your keyboard directly in front of you and at approximately elbow height. This should enable you to type with straight wrists. If this is not possible with the keyboard atop the work surface, use an adjustable-height keyboard tray.
  • Center your monitor with your keyboard and chair.
  • Avoid ear-to-shoulder neck positioning while on the phone.  Use a telephone headset that will allow you to work on the computer with good posture while on the phone.
  • Rearrange the work area to avoid excess bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • Try to relax. Many injuries and painful episodes arise from continuously tensing your neck and shoulder muscles while working."
